Sustainability is one of the most important challenges of our time. How can we develop prosperity, without compromising the life of future generations? We are looking for a balance among economical, environmental, and social and human issues – a long term balance. The integration of sustainability in project management is very important because projects initiate changes – and changes must be shaped by sustainability criteria.
Project management standards like PMBOK® or ICB are extremely poor regarding sustainability issues. These standards are more than 10 years behind modern management approaches.
Research is called out to bridge this paradox by capturing multi and trans-disciplinary inquiry synergies and breaking up knowledge and expertise silos.
Target:
- to analyse and document concepts and cases of quality and sustainability management in projects,
- to develop core elements for a multi-media wiki for training quality and sustainability management in projects.
- to provoke abstract thinking, reflective attitudes and to infuse novelty.
Prerequisites to attend this module of the summer school:
- Knowledge of core topics of project management - like presented in PMBOK
- Knowledge of elementary concepts of quality management - principles
- Project management skills to organize and manage the project
Results: 3 ECTS for successful participation in the summer school, additional 3 ECTS for delivering a homework defined during the summer school.
